The student has completed Hindustani Vocal Beginner 103 course at the academy.

<li>To reinforce the Swar Sadhana exercises</li>
<li>To sing Shuddh Swara Alankars in  patterns of 3,4 and 5</li>
<li>To develop listening skills by doing simple Swara mapping exercises, understand the placement of each Swara and identify one or two Swaras at a time, by listening</li>
<li>To study the Raga Characteristics of Bhupali and Durga</li>
<li>To practice the Chhota Khayals in the two chosen Ragas with Aalap and Taan</li>
<li>To compose a Sargam Geet with Shudh Swaras OR Bhupali/ Practice the Sargam Geet already composed in class</li>
<li>To practice singing one prayer and one folksong/Geet (non filmi) to perfection</li>
<li>To practice reciting Teentaal and Jhaptaal showing the Taali, Khali and counts</li>
<li>To study how the Tanpura and the Tabla are made and how these instruments are tuned</li>
</ul>

The student is able to
<ul>
<li>Perform a prayer, a folk song/Geet</li>
<li>Perfom Alankars in Shuddh Swaras of Bilaval in patterns of 3, 4,5 in three different speeds- Thaay Lay, Dugun and Chougun</li>
<li>Identify at least two Swaras sung at a time</li>
<li>Perform Alankars in the Raga Aaroh Avaroh Scales of the Ragas chosen in patterns of 3,4,5 - in at least Thaay Lay and Dugun. </li>
<li>Perform the Chhota Khayals in two Ragas with Aaroh, Avaroh, Chhota Khayal,simple Aalap and Taan. (The Tanpura and Taalmaala are mandatory)</li>
<li>To write about the interpretation of the term 'Sangeet' in Indian culture</li>
<li>To identify the Vadi, Samvadi in the Ragas and know the time of singing</li>
<li>To describe the Ragas that they are presenting- Bhupali and Durga</li>
<li>To create Alankar patterns and complete any given pattern</li>
</ul>

The Sa Level Exam consists of :

<li>2 contact review clas</li>
<li>a written exam (take home assignment) </li>
<li>Viva Voce</li>
</ul>
Viva voce session is up to 1 hour long. The student will have access to the exam OM Book as soon as they enroll. The Viva Voce exam will be scheduled based on the student's convenience and availability of teacher. The practical Exam is a performance which will be assessed by the Teachers who are new to them. The meeting is arranged using video conferencing. A written examination will test the student's grasp of Music theory. This exam helps the student to revise &amp; reinforce the basic concepts which form the building blocks of learning Hindustani Classical Vocal Music.

The Sa Level Exam summarizes and reinforces HV101, 102 and 103. The initiation into Swar Sadhana has been done at this level. This includes perfection in Shruti, Stability of note, singing with a free voice, practice with different vowel sounds Aakar, Iikar, Uukar. Alankars are sung incorporating basic rhythm patterns of three, four and five. The Ragas that have been introduced are Bhupali and Durga. The student could review their learning from the courses up to HV103.
